June 2011 President's Letter

After the elections, we welcomed back to the board John Heijmans who has taken over finance, Glynn Thomas who has stayed at Access Control, and Miffy Calhoun was re-elected and is continuing with the Cares Committee. Ernie Cornehl is chairing the Architectural Review Committee (ARC) and Tom Genest will now be serving as vice-president of DIA.

The Deerwood improvements continue.....next street light phase is out for bid as well as road upgrades. The new DIA sponsored Deerwood Directory is being compiled and will be mailed out to you this summer.

As Summer approaches I would like to remind you walkers to be careful...cars have right of way. If you walk after dark be selective in your attire so drivers can see you. Carry a flashlight and wear reflective clothing.

When leaving Deerwood drive slower going through the gates. We’ve had multiple accidents at the Baymeadows gate.

Also remember with summer petty crimes are a problem, please remember to keep your garage doors down, car doors locked and take your valuables into the house. Don’t make yourself a target, be aware of your surroundings no matter where you are, be safe.

We welcome our residents at our monthly meetings held on the first Mondays of the month at the clubhouse. A notice is always posted on the boards at our entrance gates. All our committees need volunteers or seasonal help.

I wish to thank the residents for the great banquet we had for the board. After the rousing good time we all voted to increase our salary to $100,000 per calendar year. As all good politicians, we do look after ourselves.

Now, if you believe what you just read, then mention it to me an I will at least know you are reading the newsletter. Your board members voluntarily work for you and we appreciate your support. Have a great summer!

William Kight, President
